Weekday Nursery School

Welcome

Since 1974 the Walkersville United Methodist Church has offered this day nursery program as a service to young children in the community.  A non-profit program approved by the Maryland State Department of Education, Weekday Nursery School operates September through May, following the public school calendar for holidays and bad weather closings.

Purpose

Walkersville United Methodist Church and the Weekday Nursery School believe that every child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically to their highest potential in a loving environment. 

Weekday Nursery School is a developmental program concerned with the whole child and respecting each child as an individual with special abilities and needs.  We believe that children learn best through experiences offered in a caring, accepting, safe, and consistent setting.  We offer children an opportunity to experience a small peer group situation, to respond to adults and children outside the family, to express themselves through experimenting with a variety of art media, to practice skills in following a routine, to develop large and small muscles through age-appropriate activities, to increase language and social development, to achieve a greater level of self-reliance and self-confidence, and to have fun while learning.

 We believe that every child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically to their highest potential in a loving environment.

Walkersville United Methodist Church offers worship services at 8:00 a.m. – Communion Service, 9:00 a.m. – Traditional Service and 11:00 a.m. – Contemporary Service.  Nursery is available at the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.  The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated at all three worship services the 1^st Sunday of each month.

Church School classes for all ages (nursery through adult) are offered at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday.

Weekday Christian Education for younger children (Pathways), middle school (Loft) and adults is offered on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. during the school year.

The Church sponsors Cub Scout Pack 1070 and other programs in the Walkersville Community.

Adult Christian education classes are scheduled regularly.

Short-term study groups on a variety of subjects are scheduled through the church year and are announced in church bulletins.

Membership classes are scheduled as needed and Confirmation classes for youth are scheduled bi-annually.

The Church newsletter, The Saddlebag lists the activities and times of meetings for the church calendar.

Walkersville United Methodist Church is a part of the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference, Frederick District.
